AAWGT: Making a difference in our community!

2014 Grantees

On May 14, the AAWGT membership voted to award $93,715 to seven area organizations, supporting programs that improve the lives of women and families in Anne Arundel County bringing AAWGT's total of dollars invested in County non-profits to almost $600,000 since 2007.  

The AAWGT grantees chosen by the membership for 2014-15 are: 


Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency: Youth Suicide Awareness - $14,000 to support training for parents, teachers, professional and emergency responders to increase identification of and intervention for suicidal youth and reduce suicide losses.  See more details about this project here

Center of Help: Homework Help and Leadership Program - $5,000 to expand a program that provides Hispanic students with math and English tutoring, homework help, and participation in activities to foster integration into the community. Food Link:  Wholesale Charitable Produce Distribution - $15,000 to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables to be distributed free to those in need through a variety of participating charitable organizations.  See more details and photos about this project here


Light House:  Family Case Management - $15,000 to fund staff to act as navigator and advocate for necessary services that help stabilize and preserve families living together in homelessness or reunite separated homeless families. 



Partners in Care: Member Care - $15,000 to support the management and provision of transportation, home repair and other services to elderly people allowing them to stay in their own homes. See more details and photos about what Partners in Care is doing with AAWGT funding here



Planned Parenthood of Maryland: Clinical Services for Women in AA County - $15,000 to provide free access to a wide-range of well-woman services and reproductive health care for women unable to afford any co-pay.


YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County - $14,715 to provide therapeutic services for women and children who are victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.  This grant would enable necessary services to be provided for all clients within 48 hours.  


In addition, AAWGT won CFAAC's Great Give Award for the most participants in a given category of donors.  As a result, AAWGT was given $2,000 to award to an Anne Arundel County non-profit of our choosing who participated in the Great Give.  At our May membership meeting, this unrestricted $2,000 was awarded to the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
