2010 Grantees


Anne Arundel Women Giving Together (AAWGT) is pleased to announce eight non-profit organizations that have been chosen to receive grants from the group starting July 2010.

Anne Arundel Literacy Council will receive $4,712 for its tutor training workshops. The Council provides free one-on-one tutoring to adults who are functionally illiterate so that they may improve their educational and/or employment opportunities.

The Arc of the Central Chesapeake Region will receive $10,000 for its Family Support Program which helps families care for their disabled children at home. The program will pay for adaptive equipment, therapies, medical care, co-pays and other necessities.

Arundel Lodge will receive $4,936 in support of its Latina Outreach Project. This project provides mental health services including outreach, education and treatment to low-income Latina women.

Eastport Girls' Club will receive $9,976 for an afterschool program for girls aged 11-15 living in public housing. The program includes tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment activities such as field trips and workshops.

Food Link will receive $9,425 for wholesale produce distribution. Food Link provides surplus, gleaned, and donated food to 25 organizations that provide meals for hundreds of county families in need.

Partners in Care will receive $9,800 to support Repairs with Care, a volunteer-based program that provides home repairs for older adults.

Robert A. Pascal Youth and Family Services will receive $6,408 for its Stop the Violence Program. This program offers play therapy to children aged three to ten who have experienced traumas such as abuse, illness, family dissolution, and domestic violence.

St. Philip's Family Life Center will receive $10,000 for its afterschool program, Strengthening Families: Extended Educational Enrichment Experience (Quad E). The program provides tutoring, counseling, and mentoring for at-risk students in grades five through eight.
