June's education program will take a look at how we assimilate non-English speaking newcomers into Anne Arundel County.  We'll hear from experts and volunteers who help these families navigate language and cultural barriers while seeking medical help, legal advice, child and family social services and education:

Moderator: Marc Rodriguez, Alderman, City of Annapolis

Speakers:

• Nancy Schrum, Director of Constituent Services, Office of the County Executive, Steven Schuh   (Representing Maria M Casasco, Director, Office of Immigrant and Multicultural  Affairs, Office of the County Executive, Steven Schuh)

• Gaston A. Gamez, ELL Family & Community Outreach Program Manager, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Office of School & Family Partnerships
• Waleska Casiano, Immigration Attorney at Mid- Atlantic Legal & Immigration Services, LLC, and Board Member, Centro de Ayuda.
• Q & A with an Annapolis-area Hispanic high school student.
  

This event is open to the public.  Members are encouraged to bring guests.  There will be ample time for socializing at the end of the program.
