The Annapolis Immigration Justice Network: Legal Fund/FamilyPreservation Project

The Annapolis Immigration Justice Network (AIJN) is so grateful to AAWGT for the $20,000 grant which helped support our mission to walk alongside and support our immigrant neighbors as they navigate the immigration process. This grant helped eight (8) mothers and their children who needed financial assistance for their immigration cases. “Cindy” had been granted asylum by a federal judge but needed financial assistance to pay a lawyer who could help her fill out the necessary paperwork to be reunited with her 2 children from El Salvador. We helped connect her to a terrific attorney and hope Cindy can be reunited with her children soon! Another mother, “Natalie,” suffered abuse from her partner but now has an immigration lawyer who is applying for a visa so Natalie can remain in the United States with her children. Once her visa application is approved, she will be on the pathway to U.S. Citizenship! Without lawyers, the cards are often stacked against immigrants. Navigating the immigration process is very complicated and difficult but AIJN knows legal representation for our immigrant neighbors brings hope, stability and a long term solution for so many living in Anne Arundel County.
