Chrysalis House, Inc: Training for Child Development Staff

Chrysalis House is honored to be a recipient of an AAWGT grant. The funds have provided training opportunities for the staff of our Child Development Center. They have also been used to purchase materials that our Director utilizes to teach the women in our program how to improve their parenting skills. Chrysalis House is one of only three programs in the state that allows women to have their children with them during residential substance use treatment. During the most recent fiscal year, we served 150 women and 59 children from infants to age 10. The Child Development Center staff care for the children during the week, but they also help the moms become the best parents they can be. For many of our clients, this is their first time parenting while sober. In addition to treatment services, we provide weekly parenting classes to help them understand child development, age-appropriate discipline, and more. They can be with us for as long as six months, and it is our goal to give them the foundation they need to become independent, contributing members of their communities
