WE CARE AND FRIENDS

$25,000 Grant

We Care and Friends supports the building blocks that create strong families and communities in areas affected by drugs, poverty, and crime in Maryland. Founded over 30 years ago, it provides food, clothing, and assistance to those in need. They also sponsor speaker forums where communities get to vocalize their needs.

Discuss a Book

◼︎ Want to become better informed about needs and issues affecting our community? The AAWGT Book Group meets six times a year, and reads nonfiction pertinent to our mission. We convene for 90 minutes with snacks and a glass of wine (optional) for a fascinating conversation at a member’s home. Members are welcome to bring a guest to join us. We select titles for the coming year in November at our annual potluck dinner, based on member nominations that never disappoint. Help Lead and Grow AAWGT

◼︎ Nine standing committees are the foundation of AAWGT’s operations and serve as the backbone for our accomplishments to date — Education and Program, Governance, Grants, Grants Systems, Leadership Development and Nominating, Marketing and Communication, Membership, and Post Grants Evaluation. An ad hoc group handles web/IT matters. Join our leadership to shape the future of our giving circle. Information on all committees is located here.

Attend an Education Session

◼︎ AAWGT holds several educational sessions throughout the year. Topics have included the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, women and leadership, food security, and transportation.

See Our Contributions At Work

◼︎ Want to learn more about where our dollars go? Join us for our Annual Field Trip to visit a prior or current grantee. We’ve visited a therapeutic riding program, observed tutoring at a local elementary school, visited an arts nonprofit in action, toured a new interactive library program, and more. All members are invited to this outing.

Membership donations directly support our Grant Fund and our administrative expenses.
