WE CARE AND FRIENDS $25,000 GrantWe Care and Friends supports the building blocks that create strong families and communities in areas affected by drugs, poverty, and crime in Maryland. Founded over 30 years ago, it provides food, clothing, and assistance to those in need. They also sponsor speaker forums where communities get to vocalize their needs. Your time and passion are the fuel for our success. Attend an eventWe hold several events, including educational sessions throughout the year. Session topics have included the first 1,000 days of a child's life, women and leadership, food security, and transportation. Discuss a bookDo you want to become better informed about needs and issues affecting our community? Our Book Group meets six times a year and reads nonfiction pertinent to our mission. We meet for 90 minutes with light snacks and beverages for a fascinating conversation at a member's home. As a member, you are welcome to bring a guest to join us. We select titles for the coming year at our annual potluck dinner in November, based on member nominations that never disappoint. Join us for our annual field trip to visit a prior or current grantee. We have visited a therapeutic riding program, observed tutoring at a local elementary school, watched an arts nonprofit in action, toured a new interactive library program, and more. All members are invited to this outing.
Lead and grow AAWGTAs an all-volunteer organization, our committees are integral to our accomplishments. We encourage all members to join a committee to contribute and shape the future of our giving circle. |
