History of the Venue:
Historic London Town and Gardens was founded in 1683 as a colonial port on the South River, central to Maryland’s tobacco trade. London Town operated within a transatlantic slave-trading economy in which enslaved African people were bought, sold, and forced to labor, shaping the area's history and legacy.

LondonTown is designated a Site of Memory by the UNESCO Slave Route Project, and before attending the Spring Open House, we encourage guests to visit the website to learn more about London Town’s history, its participation in the slave trade, and the UNESCO Slave Route. 

AAWGT is a component fund of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County.
